Nairobi, Kenya - April 8, 2025 – The Board of Directors of The Nairobi Hospital (TNH) today reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services, ensuring patient confidentiality, and upholding institutional integrity amidst ongoing challenges. In a press briefing held at the hospital’s amphitheatre, the Board addressed concerns about recent investigations and internal disputes, assuring the public and stakeholders that the institution’s dedication to quality care remains steadfast.

The recent investigation, launched by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), followed a raid at the hospital and raised questions regarding patient privacy and the handling of sensitive data. The Board acknowledged the concerns and assured the public that TNH is fully cooperating with the authorities. Despite the investigation, the hospital continues to operate at full capacity, ensuring that patients receive the care they need without disruption.

“The Nairobi Hospital remains a beacon of trust and quality healthcare in Kenya,” said the newly appointed Board Chair, Barcey Onyambu. “We recognize the challenges we have faced in recent months, but we are taking decisive steps to address them, and we are committed to strengthening both governance and operational excellence.”

The Board emphasized that the ongoing investigation and internal management issues, including disputes over doctor suspensions, are isolated and will not deter the hospital’s focus on delivering the highest standard of care. Onyambu added that the recent changes to the Board, which include new members with diverse expertise and fresh perspectives, are aimed at enhancing strategic oversight and institutional resilience.

In response to the concerns surrounding leadership, the Acting CEO, Felix Osano, expressed confidence in the hospital’s direction, stating, “Our commitment to excellence is unwavering, and we are focused on transparent decision-making and collaboration as we work through these challenges. We are confident that the changes we’ve made will accelerate our momentum towards institutional excellence.”

The hospital’s leadership has been under scrutiny, but the Board made it clear that the integrity of the institution and the continued delivery of healthcare services are paramount. Despite the internal and external challenges, the Board expressed optimism about the future, with measures already in place to safeguard business continuity and ensure that core services remain uninterrupted.

“The trust that Kenyans have placed in us is not something we take lightly,” said Onyambu. “We pledge to safeguard the continuity of operations and to navigate this chapter with integrity and transparency. Our dedicated staff remains focused on providing quality healthcare to the public without interruption.”

The High Court has since issued orders staying the probe and granted anticipatory bail to the Board members, allowing them to continue overseeing the hospital’s operations without legal hindrance.

Concluding the briefing, the Board thanked the hospital's staff, patrons, partners, and well-wishers for their continued support during this challenging period. “We remain committed to excellence in service delivery, and we are confident that the hospital will emerge stronger,” the Chair said.

As The Nairobi Hospital continues to be at the heart of Kenya’s healthcare system, the Board remains confident that their collective efforts will fortify its role as a trusted institution, ensuring that it remains a beacon of hope and quality healthcare for years to come.
