In a bold and strategic move set to redefine Kenya’s political landscape, the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has officially welcomed the KIKAO Youth Movement into its fold, signaling a transformative moment for youth leadership and political inclusion in the country.

The announcement was made during a press briefing in Nairobi by DNA Party Leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti, who described the integration as “a revolutionary moment” for Kenya’s political future.

“Today is a turning point,” Hon. Kanoti stated. “We gather to mark the formal union of the Democratic National Alliance and the KIKAO Youth Movement. This is a signal to the nation that Kenya’s youth are no longer knocking on doors — they are opening their own.”

A Platform for Young Leadership
Under the new alliance, KIKAO's expansive grassroots network will serve as the bedrock of DNA’s revitalized structure. Several young leaders from the movement have been appointed to influential positions within the party, underscoring DNA’s commitment to genuine youth inclusion:
Deputy Party Leader: Chepkoech Towett

Deputy National Chairperson: Bright Shitemi

Secretary, Public Policy and Economic Affairs: Stanley Muchiri

Secretary, Mobilization, Partnerships and Fundraising: Eugene Ochieng

Secretary, Political Affairs: James Okumu

Secretary, Publicity and Information: Jagero Oduor

Hon. Kanoti did not shy away from the severe challenges facing Kenya’s youth, citing alarming statistics: over 35% are unemployed, while millions more are underemployed or working in the informal sector. He also condemned recent violence against young activists, urging for political environments that are safe and inclusive.

“We cannot celebrate without acknowledging the crisis so many of you face,” he said. “This party must and will be a space for hope, action, and change.”

"Changing the DNA of Our Leadership"
Echoing these sentiments, Bright Shitemi, CEO and Chairperson of KIKAO, emphasized the movement’s unwavering mission to transform leadership in Kenya.

“This momentous day is a continuation of the remarkable efforts of young people who said enough to corruption, poor governance, and attempts to erode our democratic gains,” Shitemi declared. “The entry of KIKAO into DNA is more than symbolic — it is strategic. We are here to change the DNA of our leadership and our country.”

Stanley Muchiri, newly appointed Secretary for Public Policy and Economic Affairs, called for urgent reforms in youth empowerment and representation. “We must begin shaping economic policies that work for the youth, not against them,” he said.

A New Era Begins
The alliance between DNA and KIKAO is already being hailed as one of the most significant political developments of the year. With Kenya’s youth comprising over 70% of the population, the move has the potential to shift both the tone and direction of national politics.

“This is not just about positions,” added Eugene Ochieng. “It’s about purpose. The youth of Kenya are ready — and finally, we have a political home built by us, for us.”

As the country inches closer to the 2027 general elections, all eyes will be on this energized coalition — one that promises to challenge the status quo, redefine civic engagement, and inspire a generation long sidelined in national leadership.
