NAIROBI, Kenya – September 25, 2025

In a groundbreaking step toward digital inclusion, Sense International Kenya (SIK) has launched the Global Deafblindness Resource Hub, an innovative online platform designed to provide accessible, practical, and empowering resources for individuals with Deafblindness and Multi-Sensory Impairments (MSI).

The launch event, held at MGM Silver Springs Hotel in Nairobi, brought together key stakeholders including government representatives, disability rights advocates, and international development partners. The Hub was officially unveiled as part of activities marking Deaf Awareness Week 2025, underlining the critical need for inclusive digital solutions.
“The Hub will enhance services for learners with Deafblindness. The Ministry fully recognizes and supports this initiative as a vital step toward ensuring that people with Deafblindness can live, learn, and thrive,” said Mr. Fred Haga, Head of the Directorate of Special Needs Education at the Ministry of Education, during his keynote address.

A One-Stop Platform for Inclusion

The Global Deafblindness Resource Hub offers a comprehensive suite of tools and materials including:

Practical guides for educators and caregivers

First-hand stories from persons with Deafblindness

Expert knowledge on health, education, and livelihood access

Downloadable content for offline use in low-connectivity areas
Designed with accessibility at its core, the platform aims to bridge the digital divide, empower communities, and serve as a central knowledge-sharing space for parents, teachers, caregivers, and organizations working with persons with disabilities.

Live Demonstration and Call to Action

The launch featured a live demonstration of the platform's key functionalities, a panel discussion on digital inclusion, and a call to action for government, private sector, and development partners to invest in and champion digital equity for people with Deafblindness and MSI.

Speaking at the event, representatives from various disability organizations emphasized the importance of shared learning and inclusive technology in advancing the rights of people with complex disabilities.

A Vision for Inclusive Futures

With the Hub now officially live and accessible globally, Sense International Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening connections across the disability sector and enriching available resources to improve the quality of life for people with Deafblindness.

“This platform is more than a repository — it's a movement toward visibility, voice, and opportunity for one of the most marginalized communities,” said a representative from Sense International Kenya.
