United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Hassan Omar has expressed confidence in the ruling party’s growing political strength following victories in recent by-elections, saying the outcomes demonstrate continued public support for President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Speaking during a press briefing at the UDA headquarters on Friday after the Emurua Dikirr, Endo and Porto by-elections, Omar thanked party supporters, coalition partners and grassroots mobilizers for backing UDA candidates in the contests.
According to Omar, the ruling party has consistently performed strongly in by-elections held across the country since the 2022 General Election, including victories in Member of County Assembly, parliamentary and senatorial races.
He said the latest wins reaffirm that the party remains politically competitive and firmly connected to the electorate despite criticism from opposition leaders and sustained attacks on social media platforms.
“These victories are a clear indication that Kenyans continue to believe in the leadership of President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza development agenda,” Omar said.
The UDA Secretary General accused sections of the opposition of relying on divisive politics, ethnic mobilization and propaganda rather than offering practical solutions to challenges facing ordinary citizens.
He maintained that UDA would continue focusing its campaigns on development achievements, economic transformation programmes and government service delivery ahead of the next General Election.
He said the government had introduced subsidies and tax interventions aimed at cushioning Kenyans from severe price increases while ensuring stability in fuel supply across the country.
Omar further defended the Government-to-Government fuel import framework, saying agreements with Gulf suppliers had helped Kenya avoid major fuel shortages witnessed in some countries during periods of global supply instability.
He argued that while economic challenges remain, the government has continued to put measures in place to manage inflationary pressures and protect consumers from extreme market shocks.
The UDA Secretary General also dismissed recent opinion polls suggesting declining support for the ruling coalition, insisting that the party remains well-organized at the grassroots and confident of retaining power in the next General Election.
He said UDA’s continued performance in by-elections reflects the actual mood on the ground and demonstrates that the party still commands significant support among voters across different regions of the country.
Omar additionally encouraged young people to remain actively involved in the democratic process and national development conversations.
He noted that the turnout witnessed in recent by-elections indicated growing political awareness and participation among youth voters.
“Young people must continue participating in elections and governance because they are key stakeholders in the future of this country,” Omar said.
He concluded by reaffirming UDA’s commitment to strengthening party structures, expanding grassroots engagement and advancing policies aimed at economic empowerment, national unity and inclusive development.
