NAIROBI, Kenya, June 8, 2026 — Nairobi has become the center of global agricultural dialogue as the Annual Meeting of the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) officially opens at Safaripark Hotel, bringing together hundreds of farmers, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders from across the world.

The four-day gathering, running from June 8 to 11, is being hosted in partnership with the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF) and marks one of the most significant international events dedicated to advancing the interests of farmers and the future of food systems.
The meeting has attracted a diverse range of participants, including farmer leaders, youth and women farmers, representatives of agricultural cooperatives, multilateral institutions, academics, scientists, private sector actors, civil society organisations, and financial institutions. Together, they will engage in discussions aimed at strengthening sustainable agriculture, enhancing food security, and building resilience in the face of climate change and other global challenges.
Speaking at the opening session, delegates emphasized the critical role farmers play in feeding the world's growing population while safeguarding natural resources and adapting to rapidly changing environmental and economic conditions.

The WFO Annual Meeting serves as the organisation’s flagship global platform, providing farmers with a direct voice in shaping policies and solutions that affect agricultural communities worldwide. This year's discussions are expected to focus on innovation, climate resilience, market access, agricultural financing, digital transformation, and empowering young people and women within the sector.

Hosting the event in Kenya underscores the country's growing influence in regional and global agricultural development. Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Kenya’s economy, supporting millions of livelihoods and contributing significantly to national food security and export earnings.
As delegates exchange ideas and forge partnerships over the coming days, the Nairobi meeting is expected to generate practical recommendations and collaborative initiatives aimed at creating a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agri-food sector.

The gathering comes at a time when global food systems are under increasing pressure from climate change, geopolitical uncertainties, and rising demand for food. Organisers say the meeting offers a unique opportunity for farmers and stakeholders to work together on solutions that will benefit both producers and consumers around the world.
With farmers at the heart of the discussions, the WFO Annual Meeting is set to reinforce the importance of agriculture as a driver of economic growth, environmental stewardship, and global food security.
