The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring equitable access to education for learners with special needs and disabilities through the launch of the third phase of the distribution of assistive devices and technologies.
The flagging-off ceremony, organized by the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), marks another milestone in the country's efforts to strengthen inclusive education by equipping learners with the tools they need to participate fully and effectively in the learning process.
The initiative will see learners across the country receive a range of assistive devices and technologies designed to address diverse learning needs. These include equipment that enhances communication, mobility, hearing, vision, and access to educational content, enabling learners with disabilities to learn alongside their peers.
The third phase of the programme underscores the Government's continued investment in creating an inclusive education system where no learner is left behind. By improving access to assistive technologies, the initiative aims to reduce barriers to learning and enhance educational outcomes for children with special needs and disabilities.
Speaking ahead of the event, organizers said the programme reflects the Government's commitment to ensuring every learner has the support required to participate and succeed in education. They noted that assistive technologies are essential in promoting equal opportunities and empowering learners to achieve their full potential.
Education stakeholders, development partners, parents, and the media are expected to witness the flagging-off ceremony, which highlights the critical role of innovation and technology in advancing inclusive education in Kenya.
The Kenya Institute of Special Education continues to play a central role in supporting the Government's agenda of expanding access to quality education for all learners through specialized training, assessment services, research, and the provision of assistive technologies.
