Kenya Eyes Strategic Investments to Boost Forestry Sector

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, through the State Department for Forestry, is stepping up efforts to attract strategic investments into Kenya's forestry sector through a high-level Donors' Round-Table Breakfast Meeting being held in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The meeting will bring together development partners, government officials and key stakeholders to explore financing opportunities and strengthen partnerships aimed at accelerating sustainable forest management, landscape restoration and climate resilience initiatives across the country.
The round-table comes as Kenya continues to pursue ambitious forest restoration and climate action targets, with the government seeking increased collaboration with development partners and the private sector to unlock resources for the forestry sector.
The forum is expected to provide a platform for discussions on priority investment areas within the forestry sector, including forest restoration, conservation of water towers, biodiversity protection, commercial forestry development and community-based forest management.
The engagement comes at a time when Kenya is intensifying efforts to increase forest and tree cover as part of its commitment to tackling climate change, restoring degraded landscapes and promoting sustainable economic growth. Increased investment in the sector is expected to support the country's environmental conservation agenda while creating green jobs and improving livelihoods for forest-dependent communities.
