RTI Marks 70 Years of Excellence as It Holds 62nd Graduation Ceremony
Nairobi, July 9, 2026 – The Railway Training Institute (RTI) today celebrated two significant milestones as it held its 62nd Graduation Ceremony while commemorating its 70th anniversary of providing technical and professional training to Kenya's transport and logistics sector.
The ceremony, held at the Institute's Main Campus in South B, Nairobi, brought together government officials, industry leaders, graduates, and stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of the graduating class and the institution's seven-decade legacy of excellence.
Graduates from various academic programmes were awarded certificates and diplomas, underscoring RTI's continued commitment to developing a skilled workforce for Kenya's transport sector and other key industries. The graduates are expected to play a critical role in supporting the country's growing demand for competent professionals in transport, logistics, engineering, and related fields.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Transport, Mr. Mohamed Daghar, CBS, who served as the Guest of Honour, lauded the Institute for its unwavering commitment to quality training and its contribution to national development through the production of highly skilled professionals.
The event was also attended by Kenya Railways Chairman Mr. Abdi Bare, RTI Governing Council Chairperson Ms. Mercy Cherongis, and Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip J. Mainga, EBS, alongside other distinguished guests from government, academia, and the transport industry.
As RTI marks its 70th anniversary, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, excellence, and producing globally competitive graduates equipped to meet the evolving needs of Kenya's transport and logistics sector.
