‎Mashujaa Day to Drive Investment and Enterprise in Three Rift Valley Counties

‎Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties are set to use this year's National Mashujaa Day celebrations to showcase their economic, sporting and cultural potential and attract new investment to the region.Its for the first time a national celebration will be held in the region.

‎The three counties will jointly host the national celebrations, which will culminate in Eldoret on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with a week-long programme designed to take the spirit of Mashujaa Day beyond the main event.
‎The counties, renowned for producing some of Kenya's leading athletes, will host activities centred on security, sports and the economy, bringing together government, businesses, investors and citizens.
‎
‎Ahead of the celebrations, the Ministry of Treasury, which is the main key organiser, held discussions in Nairobi with government agencies, private-sector players, development partners and financial institutions on opportunities expected to arise from the celebrations.
‎The stakeholders include insurers, SACCOs, pension schemes, capital-market players, fintech companies, manufacturers and business associations.
‎The planned activities will culminate in the Economic Summit 2026 and a flagship citizen engagement dialogue scheduled for October 17 and 18 in Eldoret, ahead of the national celebrations.
‎
‎The three counties have been identified as having significant investment potential across sectors including crop farming, dairy production, healthcare and mining.
‎The Ministry of Treasury has urged the counties to ensure they are investor-ready and able to take advantage of the attention and business opportunities expected during the week-long celebrations.

‎The programme is expected to provide a platform for investors and businesses to interact with county governments, explore investment opportunities and establish partnerships in sectors with potential for economic growth.
‎For Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet, the celebrations will therefore provide more than an opportunity to honour Kenya's heroes.
‎
‎The organisers are seeking to use the national event to promote enterprise, investment, culture and public engagement while creating economic opportunities that can extend beyond the October 20 celebrations.
‎With Eldoret at the centre of the national celebrations, the three counties are positioning Mashujaa Day as a platform for showcasing the region's potential and building a lasting economic and social legacy.
