New Quality Professionals Urged to Raise Standards in Kenya

NAIROBI:Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) Managing Director Esther Ngari has urged newly certified quality professionals to use their skills to improve standards, services and efficiency across the country.

Ngari spoke during the **Kenya Quality Awards 2026** held at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi, where she congratulated graduates of the **Certified Quality Professional (CQP)** programme.

She encouraged the graduates to put their training into practice and help organisations improve their operations.

“Go forth and make quality count,” Ngari told the graduates.
She said quality professionals have an important role in helping organisations adopt standards, improve efficiency, meet customer needs and compete in local and international markets.
The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Chief of Staff **Amos Gathecha**, who called on organisations to make continuous improvement part of their daily operations.

Gathecha said organisations must listen to customers, improve their processes and embrace innovation to remain competitive.

“Every organisation represented here tonight has a different story, but we all face the same question: how do we continue delivering better value in a world that keeps changing?” he said.

He urged organisations not to settle for “good enough”, saying quality should be treated as a continuous journey.

The CQP programme provides professionals with skills in quality management and helps them understand how to apply standards to improve products and services.

The event brought together government officials, professionals and other stakeholders in the quality sector. It highlighted the growing importance of quality management in strengthening Kenya’s economy.
The newly qualified professionals are expected to help organisations build better quality systems, improve service delivery and increase customer satisfaction.

For KEBS, developing skilled quality professionals is an important part of strengthening Kenya’s standards system and supporting sustainable economic growth.

The Kenya Quality Awards 2026 therefore celebrated both professional achievement and the responsibility to keep improving standards across the country.

For the new graduates, the next step is to take their knowledge into the workplace and help raise the quality of products and services for Kenyans.
